Fantasy Tattoos

tattoo designs

Fantasy tattoos may signify a connection or fascination the wearer feels with mystical worlds; it may also show a curious twist on sensuality, as most of the figures depicted are unearthly; however, they are frequently shaped in what is considered the ideal of earthly beauty.

One of the more timeworn fantasy tattoos feature over the top versions of warriors; curvaceous women and muscular men, scantily clad, but prepared for battle. These exaggerated figures are usually fictional creatures such as elves and fairies, and are set in a dreamlike forest scene, or waiting in front of a medieval castle.

However, fantasy tattoos have a plethora of imagery to choose from. Wizards and fairies are two of the most common images in this genre. The face of a wizard looming over an ancient city, or a small fairy lounging in a starlit garden are two interesting ideas. Another idea is using multiple fantasy images to create a scene. Using a large area of the body, such as the back, you could invent an intricate hamlet with centaurs roaming the streets, dragons flying through the air; mermaids in the ocean and elves dancing in the forests.

Another great figure for fantasy tattoos is the genie. Some of the most popular images of genies come for ‘The Arabian Nights’ stories. Most genies are seen as strong, dark figures with menacing grins. They are often shown pressing themselves out of a lamp. Other versions, though, depict a more peaceful or even good humored genie. These are often done in light hues of blue, lavender or mint green, and may be seen with crossed legs in mid-air; either with an exultant smile, or in peaceful meditation.

Fantasy tattoos also feature many animal-like figures. Two good examples of this are the Pegasus and unicorn. The Pegasus, who displays an impressive set of bird-like wings, can be depicted as flying from one part of the body to the other. Many people like to use things such as flames, or even rainbows to trail behind their flying Pegasus. The unicorn may be set in a perfectly normal setting; set atop a small, lushly green and heavily flowered hill, grazing peacefully with its spiraled horn jutting forth from its forehead.

Fantasy tattoos are a great way to express not only your fascination with the myths and stories that back these varying images, but by taking something mundane and creating something unbelievable from it, you are showing the world you fantastic creativity.

Tinkerbell tattoos may signify many things to its wearer. This character may be a symbol of the wonder and magic she represents, or it may be to express the appreciation felt for a well loved childhood memory.

Most people who wear Tinkerbell tattoos use an exact replica of the Disney version; a small, blond fairy in a green dress either in flight, or sitting with a thoughtful expression; legs crossed, fist firmly placed under her chin. Others may prefer a more simplistic version of the character, creating just the outline and filling the lines in with stark, monotone color schemes.

There are also many artists who created various illustrations of Tinkerbell. Some show this character in an incandescent blue, usually standing with a determined look on her face, her hands planted firmly on her hips. A more childlike depiction is of a tiny, round cheeked fairy with large, pointed ears and a mischievous grin on her face. There are also bronze and patina statues of this fairy. In this portrayal, she is usually shown balancing on the tip of Peter Pan’s finger. These images can easily be translated into your Tinkerbell tattoos. Either small or large, these creations are bold for their bright and imaginative colors and designs.

Many people like to use other symbols in their Tinkerbell tattoos. One of the most prevalent images is, of course, Tinkerbell spreading her fairy dust; however, she has also been depicted as a spoiled little girl carrying a Halloween pumpkin, or dancing with life-sized dolls. Tinkerbell tattoos also frequently feature things such as flowers, hearts and occasionally even flames. It is also not uncommon to see altered versions of this character, such as the goth Tinkerbell. She can be seen in striped red and black stockings, cracked gray wings and even a tattoo of her own. Another variation of this character is the pinup Tinkerbell; a slightly curvier version of Tinkerbell who wears fishnet stockings and bright red lipstick, all while wearing a come hither expression.

There are a variety of ways to display Tinkerbell in your tattoos, but however you decide to do it, you will no doubt create quite a stir with them.
